What are website design packages?

Website design packages bundle the design, build and set-up of a website into a fixed price with a clear list of what is included. They suit small businesses because you know the full cost up front, rather than paying by the hour and hoping the total stays reasonable.

The catch is that packages vary hugely in what they actually include. Two “5-page website” packages can differ in design quality, speed, SEO set-up and who owns the result. That is why we list every inclusion below.

What our website design packages include, in detail

Starter: £449

Up to 5 pages, such as Home, Services, About, Contact and one more. Mobile-friendly design in your brand colours, built in WordPress and Elementor. Contact form, basic SEO set-up (titles, descriptions, sitemap), SSL, cookie banner and privacy policy. A short handover so you can edit text and images.

Business: £999

Everything in Starter, with up to 10 pages and a blog. On-page SEO for every page, speed set-up (caching, image compression, Elementor performance settings), Google Analytics 4 and Google Search Console connected, and a fuller training session.

Growth: £1,699

Everything in Business, with up to 15 pages. SEO copywriting for your service pages, structured data (schema) for your business, services and FAQs, and local SEO set-up including your Google Business Profile link and LocalBusiness schema. Built to bring enquiries from Google from launch.

How our website design packages compare on price

Across the UK, freelancers typically charge around £1,000 to £3,000 for a small business WordPress site, and agencies £3,000 to £10,000 or more. Very cheap template sites start at a few hundred pounds. Our packages sit at the lower end of professional work because we keep the process tight and the technology simple, not because we skip speed or SEO. The full breakdown, with sources, is in our guide to UK website costs.

Item Typical cost Notes
Domain (.co.uk or .uk) About £8–£15 a year Registered in your name
WordPress hosting From a few pounds to £60 a month Paid directly to the host
Business email A few pounds per user per month Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, if you want them
Premium plugins Only if needed We always ask before adding a paid plugin
Website support £39 or £79 a month Optional; or maintain it yourself

Email addresses are not part of the build because they belong with your domain and email provider, so you keep them whoever builds your site.

  1. Strategy brief. Your services, customers, competitors and the searches each page should target.
  2. Sitemap and wireframe. Agreed page list and layout before design starts.
  3. Design. Home page first, then inner pages, with your feedback at each stage.
  4. Build. WordPress, Elementor, forms, SEO set-up and speed work on a private staging copy.
  5. Testing. Phones, tablets and laptops; forms; links; Core Web Vitals; accessibility basics.
  6. Launch. Domain connected, site live, submitted to Google Search Console.
  7. Training and handover. How to edit pages, add posts and change images.

Most sites take two to four weeks from receiving your content.

You own the website, the content, the domain and the hosting account. There are no proprietary page builders or locked themes. If you ever want to move to another developer or host, everything comes with you.

See examples of finished sites on our work page.

Packages cover brochure and lead-generation websites. Online shops with WooCommerce, booking systems, membership areas and integrations with tools such as Xero, HubSpot or Mailchimp are quoted separately. Tell us what you need on a free call.

  1. Home: what you do, where, for whom, with a clear call to action.
  2. Services: one page per main service, or one services page for Starter.
  3. About: the people behind the business, with real photos.
  4. Reviews or work: genuine reviews and photos of completed jobs.
  5. Contact: form, phone, email, map or service area.
  6. Legal: privacy policy and cookie policy.

Business and Growth packages add a blog and more service or area pages.

Every package is built to pass Google’s Core Web Vitals on mobile where hosting allows: fast Largest Contentful Paint, quick response to taps (Interaction to Next Paint) and no layout jumps. That means compressed images, few plugins and a lightweight theme from day one, rather than speed fixes added later.

  • Logo and brand colours (or we can suggest a simple text logo).
  • Your services, the areas you cover and any prices you want to show.
  • Real photos where possible; we can source suitable stock images to fill gaps.
  • Access to your domain account, or we help you buy one in your name.
  • Text for each page, unless you choose Growth, which includes copywriting.

Packages are usually paid in two stages: a deposit to start and the balance before launch. Most sites take two to four weeks once content is ready. If content is delayed, we hold your place and restart as soon as it arrives.

  • Trades: service pages per job type, a gallery of completed work, area coverage and a big call button.
  • Clinics and salons: treatment lists with prices and a link to your booking system.
  • Professional services: team page with qualifications, fees and a clear enquiry form.
  • Cafés and shops: opening hours, menu or products, location and Google Maps embed.

All three website design packages can be shaped around these needs; the main difference is the number of pages and how much SEO work is included.

Demo templates are designed to sell themes, not to sell your services. They often carry heavy sliders, animations and plugins you do not need, and their layout is rarely built around the searches your customers make. We start from a lightweight base and design each page for its purpose, which is why our sites stay fast and easy to edit.

Before choosing between website design packages, decide what the site is for:

  • Brochure website: tells people who you are, what you do and how to contact you. Starter suits this.
  • Lead-generation website: built to bring enquiries from Google, with a page for each service and clear calls to action. Business or Growth suits this.
  • Online shop: sells products directly with WooCommerce. Quoted separately.

Most service businesses need a lead-generation site, even if they start with a brochure.

Brochure websites are the most common choice: a few clear pages that explain what you do and make it easy to get in touch. All our website design packages (web design packages, in short) are WordPress web design packages built in Elementor, so you can edit text and photos yourself.

Every website claims to be mobile-friendly. In practice it should mean: text readable without zooming, buttons large enough to tap, a click-to-call phone number, menus that work with one thumb, no pop-ups covering the content, and fast loading on mobile data. We test every page on real phone sizes before launch.

Task Starter Business Growth
Titles and meta descriptions ✓ ✓ ✓
XML sitemap and Search Console Sitemap ✓ ✓
Keyword research per page – ✓ ✓
Headings, internal links and alt text optimised Basic ✓ ✓
Copy written for search – – ✓
Schema for business, services and FAQs – – ✓
Google Business Profile link and LocalBusiness schema – – ✓

Every package ends with a training session on a video call, recorded so you can watch it again. You learn how to change text and images, add a new page from an existing layout, publish a blog post (Business and Growth), and check that your contact form works. You also get a short written guide and all your logins.

  • All pages proofread and approved by you.
  • Forms tested and sending to the right inbox.
  • SSL active and every page loading over HTTPS.
  • Old website addresses redirected (for redesigns).
  • Search engines allowed to index the site.
  • Sitemap submitted in Google Search Console.
  • Cookie banner and privacy policy live.
  • Backups running.

We watch Search Console for crawl errors, check that Google is indexing your pages, and fix any small issues free of charge. It is also the best time to set up or update your Google Business Profile and ask your first customers for reviews.

  • Number of pages: each page needs layout, content and SEO.
  • Who writes the content: professional copywriting adds time but usually ranks and converts better.
  • Design complexity: custom illustrations, animations and unusual layouts take longer.
  • Features: bookings, online payments, member areas and calculators.
  • Integrations: connecting to tools such as a CRM, Xero, Mailchimp or a booking system.
  • Migration: moving content and keeping rankings from an old site.

Our website design packages fix the price for the common needs; anything beyond them is quoted before work starts.

Your domain (such as yourbusiness.co.uk) is your address on the web. Hosting is the server that stores and delivers your site. Email can run through your host or through Google Workspace or Microsoft 365. We help you set all three up in your own name, connect them correctly, and make sure SSL is active so your site shows as secure.

Every package follows the core of WCAG 2.2: readable colour contrast, headings in the right order, alt text on images, forms with clear labels and menus that work with a keyboard. It makes your site usable for more people, including older visitors and anyone using a screen reader.

Week What happens
Week 1 Brief, page plan and home page design
Week 2 Inner pages designed and built on a staging copy
Week 3 Content added, SEO set-up, speed work and testing
Week 4 Your final review, launch and training

Starter sites can be faster; Growth sites with copywriting can take a little longer.

  • Letting the designer register the domain in their own name. If you fall out, you can lose your address.
  • Choosing on looks alone. A beautiful site that is slow, unclear or invisible on Google will not bring work.
  • Skipping content planning. Writing the text last is the biggest cause of delays and weak pages.
  • No plan for after launch. Updates, backups and fresh content keep a site working and ranking.
  • Ignoring the old site’s rankings. A redesign without redirects can lose years of Google visibility overnight.

We recommend WordPress hosting with a UK or European data centre, LiteSpeed or similar server caching, free SSL, daily backups and a current PHP version. For most small business sites, a good shared or managed WordPress plan is plenty. We help you choose based on your budget and expected traffic, and you pay the host directly so the account stays yours.

If you already have hosting, we check it first; many existing plans are perfectly good once set up properly.

Your website should look like your business, not like a template. Within each package we design around your logo, colours and photos, choose fonts that are easy to read on a phone, and keep layouts consistent from page to page so the site feels professional. If you do not have brand colours yet, we suggest a simple palette that works well for accessibility and print as well as the web.

We also write your page titles and button text in plain British English, so visitors know exactly what to do next: call, book, or ask for a quote.

  • Starter (£449) suits sole traders and new businesses that need a professional brochure website: home, services, about and contact.
  • Business (£999) suits established local firms with several services and a plan to publish useful articles.
  • Growth (£1,699) suits businesses that want the site to bring in enquiries from Google from the start, with the copy written for search.

You will find packages cheaper than ours. Some are built from a demo template with your logo swapped in, on slow shared plugins, with no thought about search. That is fine if you just need something online. If you want the website to bring in work, the extra goes into speed, structure and content that Google can rank.

Every package is built on WordPress, so you own it and can move it if you ever want to. See WordPress website design for how we work.

Websites need updates and backups. You can do this yourself, or add a website support plan from £39 a month. If you want ongoing work to climb Google, see local SEO or our SEO packages.

We wrote an honest guide to what a website costs in the UK, including freelancer and agency price ranges and the running costs most people forget.

Whoever you choose, ask these before you pay:

  1. Is the domain and hosting in my name?
  2. Can I edit the text and photos myself?
  3. Is SEO set up, and what exactly does that include?
  4. What are the yearly running costs?
  5. What happens if I want to move the site later?

Our website design packages answer all five on this page: yes, yes, yes (see the table), hosting and domain only, and you can take the site anywhere.
