What on page SEO services involve
On-page SEO is everything on the page itself that helps Google and visitors understand it. Our on page SEO services start with one question for every page: what would someone type into Google to find this, and does the page answer it clearly?
If the answer is no, we rewrite or restructure the page until it does. We do not stuff keywords in. Pages written for people tend to rank better and turn more visitors into enquiries.
The 6 things we work on
- Keyword research. The real phrases UK customers use, with search numbers, so we target words people actually type.
- Titles and meta descriptions. What shows in Google’s results, written to get the click.
- Headings and structure. One clear main heading, logical sections, short paragraphs.
- Content. Filling gaps, adding prices, examples and answers to common questions.
- Internal links. Linking related pages so visitors and Google can find them.
- Images and schema. Compressed images with useful alt text, plus structured data for services and FAQs.
One topic, one page
A common problem on small business sites is several pages chasing the same search. Google cannot tell which one to show, so none of them rank well. We map every important search to one page, then make sure the others link to it rather than compete with it.
This is part of every SEO package, alongside technical SEO and off-page SEO.
More detail
Helpful content, written for UK customers
Google says it rewards content made for people first. Its guidance on creating helpful content is worth a read. In practice that means real prices, real examples, British spelling and answers to the questions your customers ask on the phone.
We draft the content, you check it is accurate for your business, and nothing goes live without your approval.
Search intent: matching the page to the search
Every search has a purpose, and Google ranks pages that match it. Our on page SEO services start by sorting each target search into one of four types:
- Informational: the person wants to learn (“what is a boiler service”). Best answered by a guide.
- Commercial: the person is comparing (“best accountant for sole traders”). Best answered by a service page with prices, proof and FAQs.
- Transactional: the person is ready to buy or book (“book boiler service Glasgow”). The page needs a clear price and a one-tap call or booking button.
- Navigational: the person wants a specific business. Your homepage and Google Business Profile handle these.
Putting a sales page in front of an informational search, or a long article in front of a “book now” search, is one of the most common reasons small business pages do not rank.
Title tags, meta descriptions and click-through rate
Your title tag is the blue headline in Google’s results; the meta description is the grey text under it. Together they decide whether someone clicks. We write titles that start with the main search phrase, stay within about 60 characters so they are not cut off, and give a reason to click, such as a price or a clear benefit. Meta descriptions of around 120 to 160 characters summarise the page and include the phrase naturally.
Google sometimes rewrites titles and descriptions, but a clear, accurate one is used far more often.
Better titles are often the quickest win our on page SEO services deliver.
On page SEO services for headings and structure
Each page gets one H1 that says what the page is about, H2s for the main sections and H3s for details inside them. Paragraphs stay short, lists are used where they help, and the answer to the main question appears near the top. This helps people scanning on a phone, and helps Google understand which part of the page answers which question.
Semantic SEO: covering the whole topic
Google no longer matches pages on one keyword alone. It looks at whether a page covers the topic properly: the related questions, terms and entities (people, places, organisations and things) that a knowledgeable page would naturally mention.
For a boiler repair page, that might mean covering boiler brands, common faults, Gas Safe registration, call-out times, prices and the areas served. Our on page SEO services compare your page with the pages that already rank, list what is missing, and add it where it genuinely helps the reader.
Topic coverage is now a core part of on page SEO services.
Internal links and anchor text
Links between your own pages spread authority and help Google find and understand them. We link related pages using descriptive anchor text, such as “local SEO packages” rather than “click here”, and never use the same anchor text for two different pages. Every important page is linked from at least two others.
On page SEO services for images, URLs and schema
- Images: compressed to WebP, sized correctly, with alt text that describes what the image shows.
- URLs: short, readable and containing the main phrase, such as /boiler-repair-glasgow/.
- Schema: Service, FAQPage and BreadcrumbList structured data added and tested in Google’s Rich Results Test.
Keyword cannibalisation and on page SEO services
When two of your pages target the same search, Google often ranks neither well. We find these clashes in Search Console, decide which page should own the search, and then merge, redirect or re-focus the other. It is one of the quickest wins on older sites.
What it costs
On-page work is included in our SEO packages from £449 a month. If you only need a one-off tidy-up of a few key pages, ask for a fixed quote. Not sure which pages need help? A £199 SEO audit will tell you.
On page SEO services: a quick example
Here is the kind of change on page SEO services make. A Glasgow joiner’s services page had the title “Services” and one paragraph listing everything they do. After the work it had:
- A title that matched what people search for, such as “Kitchen Fitting Glasgow: Fixed Quotes in 48 Hours”.
- Separate sections for kitchens, doors and flooring, each with a short description and a price guide.
- A short FAQ answering the questions customers asked on the phone.
- Links to the gallery and contact page.
This is an illustration, not a client result. It shows why on page SEO services are often the quickest win on a small site: the page already exists, it just needs to say the right things clearly.
Frequently asked questions
What is on-page SEO?
It is improving the content and structure of your own pages, including titles, headings, text, internal links and images, so they match what people search for.
How is on-page SEO different from off-page SEO?
On-page is work on your own website. Off-page is about other websites linking to and mentioning yours.
Will you change my content without asking?
No. We send changes for approval first, especially anything about prices, services or qualifications.
How quickly do on-page changes work?
Google may pick up changes within days, but ranking changes usually take several weeks.
What do on page SEO services cost?
On-page work is part of our SEO packages from £449 a month. For a one-off tidy-up of a few pages, ask for a fixed quote.
What is search intent?
The purpose behind a search: learning, comparing, buying or finding a specific business. Pages rank best when they match it.
What is semantic SEO?
Covering a topic fully, including the related questions, terms and entities a knowledgeable page would mention, rather than repeating one keyword.
Do meta descriptions affect rankings?
Not directly, but they affect how many people click your result, which is what brings visitors and enquiries.
